My First Christmas

Christmas Morning

Well I had my very first Christmas and I must say now I know why people, especially my brother, get so excited about it. First of all, there are all the pretty lights on the houses and the Christmas tree. Second, I get to spend the day with my whole family and have fun with them. And then there is all of the presents! Wow I love getting stuff and I love ripping at the wrapping paper even more. I think, right now, that is the best part! I got lots of new toys from everyone that I am enjoying playing with. I can't wait till next Christmas, my brother and I are counting down the days....

"Yeah, I love wrapping paper and ribbon!"

6 Month Checkup

Hanging out at the Doctor's office

Wow the first 6 months of my life have just flown by! Can't believe I am about to enjoy my first Christmas, woohoo! I went to the doctor and had my checkup and got my stats. I am now 19 pounds and 15 1/2 ounces (85th percentile) but let's just call it 20 pounds okay! I am 28 inches long which puts me in the 93rd percentile (I guess that explains why EVERYONE I meet says "wow he is a BIG boy") and my head circumference is 45 cm which puts me in the 75th percentile (big noggin). Mama looked up Ewan's stats at 6 months and I am MUCH bigger than he was at this age. I had my shots too (yuck) but I was tough and only let out one little cry. I think my mama is getting a little frustrated with my growth, 'cause she had to go out in the shed and dig out the 18 month clothes. I guess that's what happens when you eat and sleep all day! Mmmmm food, I am starting to get hungry again.....

My first hike to Ano Nuevo

Since the weather was so nice Thanksgiving weekend, Mama and Dada decided it would be fun to drive up to Ano Nuevo and check out the elephant seals. Dada carried me in the backpack carrier which I thought was lots of fun. I didn't enjoy wearing my hat though, I think I must get that from Mama. We hiked out to the dunes and saw a couple of bull elephant seals, but we were a couple of weeks too early to see the great masses come in. After our hike my brother was jonesing for some lunch so we stopped in Davenport and had burgers (well THEY had burgers, not me...). Maybe next year we can go back up and I will be able to do the hike myself and see more seals!

Happy Halloween

I had my first Halloween. My brother dressed up as a knight so I, of course, was his dragon. We had our friends over for dinner and trick-or-treating, but it was past my bedtime so I missed out on most of it. I thought Ewan's costume was pretty cool and I liked looking at it. I think I will have lots more fun next year when I can actually run around the neighborhood myself and collect my loot.

Sir Ewan the Knight and his little dragon.

This is my very first jack-o-lantern (carved with help from Dada).

Aloha!

Tormenting Ewan on the airplane while he is trying to watch a movie.

My Mama and Dada decided that at 4 1/2 months I was old enough to take my first vacation and airplane ride to the beautiful island of Hawaii. They took my brother on a disastrous R.V. trip when he was 4 months old, so I think I lucked out and got the upgrade! I did very well on the airplane ride over there (helps that it is only 4 to 5 hours long) and I slept most of the way. I did have a meltdown on the short flight from Honolulu to Kona and poor Mama was stuck with me and had to endure the "looks" from the other passengers. Heck I was getting tired and cranky, what's a kid to do?

We stayed at a nice condo right on the water. Ewan had lots of fun running all over the beach and finding things. The 3 hour time difference was weird and Ewan and I kept getting up at 4:00am everyday. That might explain the exhausted looks on Mama and Dada's faces! I had a hard time adapting to the warm weather and humidity. Ugh...I am used to the fog and the cool weather of Pebble Beach. Hopefully I will learn to like it in the future.

We went to the volcano (my big bro was so happy about that!), went to the beach, and we looked at a bunch of condos that Mama and Dada are thinking about buying. We had lots of fun, although I think I will have more fun when I get older and can do more fun things.

Play Time!

Not really enjoying playtime at the moment.
Now I am having fun!

Having fun pulling out Dada's hair.

Loving my new play saucer.

3 Month Checkup

(Wearing the Patagonia bunny-suit my ConCon got for me)

Well I have reach the new milestone of 3 months old! I am still growing leaps and bounds and show no sign of stopping anytime soon. I weighed 16 pounds 11 ounces (in the 90th percentile) and I am now 26 inches long (95th percentile). I have almost doubled my birth weight (putting on about a pound a week) and soon I will be chowing down on some REAL food, well if you want to call rice cereal "real food"...bleah.
My mama had to get rid of a bunch of my clothes, I am already wearing 6 to 9 month (sometimes 12 month) clothes. I am growing out of stuff at a rapid rate. My brother better watch out, I will be catching up to him sooner than he thinks! ; )

"Hangin' out with my brother"

I sure am enjoying having a big brother. He likes to do lots of things with me and makes me smile. I am going to miss him when he is at school...

Playing in my room together. You can see how much I like my big brother!

Having a camp out in the front yard in our new tent.

Growing like a weed and eating like a horse

Well I went and had my six week checkup today. It turns out all that milk I have been chugging has made me grow big and strong! I am 23 1/2 inches long (puts me in the 90th percentile), 11 pounds 11 ounces (65th percentile), and my head circumference was 39 1/2 centimeters (55th percentile). I think my Mama and Dada are worried about what's in store for them when I am a teenager. With Ewan and I they are gonna have big grocery bills!

Ewan the Big Brother

My first few weeks at home have been very nice. My big brother Ewan is awesome and really loves me! Every morning he says "Good morning Kiki Pipsqueak" and is always talking to me. Even when Ewan got really sick, he was still so nice to me. He loves to take me for walks, feed me a bottle, and he even helped give me my first bath. But Mama and Dada can't convince him to change my diaper yet. What's up with that? I would do it for him.....maybe.
I am really looking forward to being more mobile so my big brother and I can run around and play together. We are going to have such fun!

Home Sweet Home

Mama and I got the all-clear to leave the hospital today. Yeah! No more nurses poking and proding and taking my temperature in a place I won't mention... and getting woken up every 3 hours. How's a guy supposed to get any sleep in those conditions?!

Dada and my big brother came and picked us up and brought us home. My big bro Ewan is sooo excited to have me home, but I get the impression he wishes I could just jump up and play with him. Well it will happen soon enough, especially with him there to teach me the ropes and all I need to know. He has given me the nickname "Kiki Pipsqueak", I guess he thinks my name is too boring. But I think it is pretty neat how much he likes me, he is always giving me hugs and kisses and telling me how much he loves me. He likes to have me come into his bed at night and listen to Dada read us stories.

The resident cats are getting used to me, but the gray one Mischa doesn't quite know what to make of me.
Whew! This whole "being born" thing is exhausting so I am happy to be home safe and sound with my family and catch up on my shut eye...

Birth Day Pics

Watch out world here I come!

Hello everyone! Well I finally decided, on my terms, that I was ready to come and join everyone out in the real world on June 8th at the glorious hour of 1:25 a.m.

I thought it might be fun to give Mama (and Dada) a run for their money and make her labor come on real FAST and make her contractions only a minute apart by the time she got to the hospital (which luckily is only 5 minutes away!). Mama tried to push me out for 35 minutes (during which time poor Dada passed out) but I wasn't going to go along with that plan and she had to have an emergency c-section. It turns out all that rolling around I was doing in Mama's womb made my right arm get stuck behind my back. Go figure. So between my big head (hey I need a place for my big brain man) and my arm in an awkward position, coming out the traditional way wasn't an option. Somehow during this whole crazy event, one of the blood vessels in Mama's uterus ruptured and she lost 1.5 liters of blood. Sorry Mama my bad. But after getting 3 units of blood and plasma she was doing just fine.

And me, heck I was AWESOME! I was 8 pounds 9 ounces and 21 1/2 inches long. Bigger than my brother Ewan was when he was born. The doctor said I was the longest baby she had ever delivered.

So here I am! I wanted to make a REALLY dramatic entrance into this world and I think I accomplished that. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and seeing what this world has in store for me. I think I might like it here!
